Filtra esta lista de estudios por sede, estatus, etc. A Study to Evaluate Evacuation Mechanisms Using Advanced Brain Imaging Rochester, Minn. The objective of this study is to compare the central neural circuitry with fMRI (7T) in 30 asymptomatic healthy controls, 30 constipated patients without DD, and 30 constipated patients with DD at rest (functional connectivity analysis), during rectal distention to desire to defecate and urgency, and during evacuation. Potential Benefit of Photon-counting CT in Human Subjects Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to to examine the ability of photon counting computed tomography (PCCT) to reduce calcium blooming and beam-hardening artifacts adjacent to bone, to use decreased dose levels without altering contrast-to-noise, and to improve discrimination of very small structures using the system’s increased spatial resolution. Image-based Mapping of Brain Tumors Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to combine MRI images with histologic and genetic analysis of cancer (from blood and tissue samples) to improve the overall accuracy of diagnosis and effectiveness of cancer treatment. Ferromagnetic Detection of Cardiac Devices using a Metrasens Screener Rochester, Minn. The purpose is to conduct a study that determines the efficiency of FMDS in pre MRI screening for detecting cardiac implants in a Mayo Clinic environment. Complications Associated with Primary Placement of Radiologically-Inserted Gastrostomy versus Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy for Feeding Rochester, Minn. The use of long-term enteral tube feeding has increased dramatically in the United States and worldwide. Radiologically-inserted gastrostomy (RIG) or percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) are the most common techniques used for long term enteral feeding. Gastrostomy-related complications are classified as major (peritonitis, abscess, bleeding requiring intervention/transfusion, bowel perforation, death) or minor (superficial infection, skin erosion, bleeding not requiring intervention, exit site leakage or tube complication [occluded, malpositioned/dislodged, damaged]). Not many studies have compared the outcomes and major and minor complications associated with RIG versus PEG. The primary objectives of this study are to assess pain as well as major and minor complications with gastrostomy-tube placement, comparing RIG with PEG. The secondary objectives are to compare costs associated with each technique, to compare anesthesia type used with each technique, and to assess patient quality of life before and after the procedure. A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of a Hybrid Imaging and Measurement Tool for Breast Cancer Detection and Monitoring Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this research is to optimize and evaluate the efficacy of a hybrid imaging and quantitative viscoelasticity measurement tool for breast cancer detection and monitoring. A Study to Assess Opioid-Induced Respiratory Depression Using Diaphragm Muscle Shear Wave Elastography Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of opioid administration on diaphragm muscle forces during resting breathing and during higher force maneuvers by using a non-invasive shear wave elastography (SWE) method. A Study to Evaluate Improving PET Image Quality and Quantification by Using Motion Correction, Parametric Imaging and MAP Reconstruction Rochester, Minn. The aims of this research project are to assess the effectiveness of motion correction software for patients undergoing PET brain scans, to assess the data acquisition and image processing workflow for parametric analysis of brain and whole body scans, and to assess the quality of PET images reconstructed with maximum a posteriori (MAP) reconstruction algorithm. A Study to Assess Genetics, Risk and Education of Mammography Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to to evaluate the integration of cancer genetic testing into a mammography practice aimed toward women at intermediate- to-high lifetime risk of breast cancer. If successful, this will provide an opportunity for cancer risk stratification and individualized screening. A Study to Investigate the Improvement of Sensitivity of a New Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) Technology Over Those of Traditional CEUS Rochester, Minn. The overall goal of this study is to investigate the improvement of sensitivity and penetration of a new contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) technology over those of traditional CEUS. Cerebral Iron Quantification Using MRI Rochester, Minn. This proposal includes evaluation of brain iron quantification method using MR imaging and will operate within the NSR guidelines for data acquisition established by the FDA/CDRH. The significant testing by vendor and Mayo staff prior to in vivo use, assure the safety of these studies and overall system stability. The result of these studies will be used to validate new technology to determine the iron level in the brain and correlate the iron deposit with age, gender, and pathology.
