Thyroid cancer management is revolving rapidly, to a more minimalistic, individualized approach for low-risk patients, and to more-targeted and evidence-based therapeutic approaches for advanced-stage disease.

Lower cisplatin dosage may not affect medulloblastoma survival
Although credited with boosting survival rates for children with medulloblastoma, cisplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy carries significant risks. Research at Mayo Clinic shows no significant differences in event-free survival and overall survival among patients who receive varying cumulative cisplatin doses.
Tuft cells implicated in pancreatic neoplasia
Research has shown that tuft cells act as tumor-initiating cells for pancreatic neoplasia. Now, Mayo Clinic researchers have found that SOX17 expression, both alone and combined with the KRAS oncogene, greatly increases this tumor-initiating ability.
Collaborative study supports accuracy of genomic sequencing
RNA sequencing is used with increasing frequency to characterize a growing array of conditions. A study by 150 researchers in 12 countries found agreement across RNA genomic sequencing techniques and laboratories and ways to improve what little variability exists to set a new high standard.
