Research

Mayo Clinic researchers study ways to diagnose and treat left bundle branch block (LBBB), including complete, incomplete, intermittent and rate-dependent left bundle branch block.

They study how changes in the heart's electrical system affect how the heart works.

Areas of research have included:

  • Blocks in smaller electrical pathways, called fascicular blocks.
  • The connection between left bundle branch block and heart failure.
  • How people with left bundle branch block do over time.
  • Ways to identify a person’s risk of bundle branch block.

Researchers also study tools and treatments related to left bundle branch block, including:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) to help analyze ECG results.
  • Heart imaging and mapping of the heart's electrical signals.
  • Pacemakers and other heart devices.
