Research
Mayo Clinic researchers in the Heart Rhythm Disease Program study new ways to find and treat conditions that affect the heart's rhythm or structure.
One area of research uses artificial intelligence (AI) to study electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs). An ECG records the heart's electrical activity. Researchers are studying whether AI can see patterns in ECGs that may help find conditions that have not yet been diagnosed.
Researchers also develop and test heart devices. These include pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. These devices help control the heartbeat.
