Immunostains Laboratory
The Immunostains Laboratory performs immunohistochemistry (IHC), in-situ hybridization (ISH) and mass spectrometry-based proteomic (MS) tests for clinical diagnosis. Specimens are received from surgical pathology, bone marrow, cytology, Mayo Clinic practices and consultative practice. Testing is focused on diagnostic protein (antigens) markers and predictive/prognostic markers. The test menu includes 240 IHC tests, 9 ISH tests and 3 MS tests. Each year approximately 198,000 IHC tests, 5,000 ISH tests and 1,400 MS tests are performed. The laboratory has an active test development initiative conducted by experienced scientific staff and led by the lab directors.
