Biographical summary
Andrew McKeon, M.B., B.Ch., M.D., is originally from Dublin. He obtained his medical degree from University College Dublin (2000). He undertook internal medicine and neurology training in Ireland, which he completed at Mayo Clinic as a fellow in movement disorders and then autoimmune neurology. He became a consultant at Mayo Clinic in 2009, as a joint appointee in the Department of Neurology and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. He is co-director of the Neuroimmunology Laboratory. He is a professor of neurology and professor of laboratory medicine and pathology in Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. He is certified by the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology. Dr. McKeon is an expert in the assessment and diagnosis of patients with immune-mediated CNS diseases including autoimmune encephalitis, autoimmune ataxias, other autoimmune movement disorders, paraneoplastic neurological disorders, autoimmune myelopathies, and stiff-person syndrome. His research is focused on the discovery and validation of novel antibody biomarkers of autoimmune CNS diseases, natural history and outcome studies of autoimmune neurological diseases and clinical trials.
