Jane E. Brumbaugh, M.D., is a neonatologist engaged in clinical research focused on the cognitive, behavioral, and developmental outcomes of children at risk of altered developmental trajectories. Dr. Brumbaugh is interested in the relationship between perinatal morbidities, such as prematurity, and the developing brain. As children born at 22 to 23 weeks of gestation are resuscitated with increasing frequency, Dr. Brumbaugh and her collaborators aim to characterize the outcomes for these children to better inform periviable counseling and follow-up after hospital discharge. In addition, Dr. Brumbaugh and her collaborators aim to understand the effects of adverse social determinants of health in children born extremely preterm.
