Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Dizziness
  2. fainting
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. slow heartbeat

Rare

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. bloody vomit
  5. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  6. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin
  7. severe stomach pain
  8. unusual bleeding or bruising

Incidence not known

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. nausea
  3. shortness of breath
  4. sweating
  5. swelling of the feet and lower legs
  6. troubled breathing
  7. unusual tiredness or weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. confusion
  3. drowsiness
  4. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  5. green-yellow color disturbances
  6. halos around lights
  7. loss of appetite
  8. nervousness
  9. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  10. vomiting
  11. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  12. weight loss

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Agitation or combativeness
  2. anxiety
  3. depression
  4. diarrhea
  5. expressed fear of impending death
  6. hallucinations
  7. rash

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred or loss of vision
  2. double vision
  3. headache
  4. lack of feeling or emotion
  5. loss of appetite
  6. night blindness
  7. overbright appearance of lights
  8. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  9. tunnel vision
  10. uncaring
  11. weakness
