The Gary and Dianne McCalla Transplant Center houses solid-organ transplant services. Compassionate care for patients and families, as well as experienced medical and allied health teams, are the hallmarks of Mayo Clinic's transplantation services. Mayo Clinic in Florida offers heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas and bone marrow transplants.
Mayo Clinic in Florida is nationally recognized for its experience in transplantation. Transplant surgeons and physicians work together with other health care professionals in teams to manage all aspects of a transplant patient's care. Mayo offers several innovative services not available at other transplant centers, such as ABO incompatible kidney transplant, positive cross match kidney transplant and ventricular assist devices.
Transplants are performed at Mayo Clinic hospital operating rooms that are specially set up for the procedures. After each transplant, patients are cared for by staff members experienced in the needs of patients recovering from transplant surgery. Patients who have had transplants return here for follow-up examinations.
Candidates for heart, kidney, liver, lung, and pancreas transplants are evaluated at the Gary and Dianna McCalla Transplant Center. Bone marrow transplants (BMTs or blood and marrow transplants) are offered through the Division of Hematology/Oncology.

"The first five weeks were difficult, but then one day I woke up and suddenly felt like I needed to do something — clean the house, work in the shop, just be busy. I felt better than I had in 15 years."
