Research

Mayo Clinic researchers are working to improve treatment with ileoanal anastomosis surgery. Studies cover a wide range of areas, including pouch-related complications of the surgery, such as pouchitis, Crohn's disease of the pouch and Clostridium difficile infection (CDI); preoperative risk factors for failure of restorative proctocolectomy (RPC) with IPAA; the relationship of weight to successful IPAA surgery; and outcomes of laparoscopic IPAA.
