Below are support groups facilitated by Mayo Clinic social workers and open to the public.
Geriatric Support Group
A support group for individuals over 65 who struggle with depression or anxiety and who are willing to share their concerns and insights with others. Facilitators will lead the group and offer practical advice on managing life issues. The group meets Fridays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Generose Building at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus. Contact Mary Wolf at 507-255-7035.
Grief support groups for adults
Mayo Clinic Hospice offers adult grief support groups two to three times a year. The groups are free and open to any adult who has experienced the death of a significant person in his or her life. Contact Mayo Clinic Hospice at 507-284-4002 or 800-679-9084 (toll-free).
LVAD Support Group
Support group for people who have a left ventricular assist device and their family members. Meets from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in Room 5-502 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus. Contact Lorena Nimke or Tami Halverson at 507-284-2131.
For siblings of children with chronic medical conditions, ages 5 to 13. Meets two times a year. Contact Holli Johnson at 507-284-6819.
Transplant Support Group
The Transplant Solid Organ Support Group meets every Monday from 4 to 5 p.m. in Room 4-510, Mary Brigh Building at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus. It is an open group for pre and post-transplant patients and their caregivers. Contact Ellen Case with questions at 507-284-2131.
Traumatic Brain Injury Group
For patients and families who have been seen or are being seen in the Mayo Clinic outpatient brain rehabilitation program. Meets the second Wednesday of every month from 7 to 8 p.m. Contact Anita Milburn at 507-284-7241.
