Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Overview

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is a cancer that begins in your lymphatic system, which is part of your body's disease-fighting network (immune system). More common than Hodgkin's lymphoma, NHL tumors develop when you have too many lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell found in the lymph nodes, bone marrow, spleen and other areas with lymphoid tissue. Most lymphocytes are either B cells or T cells.

The most common type of NHL is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, followed by follicular lymphoma. NHL can develop at any age, but the more common types occur in adults in their 60s or older. Incidence increases with age.
