Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Aggression
  2. agitation
  3. anxiety
  4. blurred vision
  5. decrease in the amount of urine
  6. dizziness
  7. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  8. headache
  9. irritability
  10. mental depression
  11. mood changes
  12. nervousness
  13. noisy, rattling breathing
  14. numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
  15. pounding in the ears
  16. swelling of the fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs
  17. trouble thinking, speaking, or walking
  18. trouble breathing
  19. weight gain

Incidence not known

  1. Backache
  2. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  3. cough or hoarseness
  4. darkening of the skin
  5. decreased vision
  6. diarrhea
  7. dry mouth
  8. eye pain
  9. eye tearing
  10. facial hair growth in females
  11. fainting
  12. fatigue
  13. fever or chills
  14. flushed, dry skin
  15. fractures
  16. fruit-like breath odor
  17. full or round face, neck, or trunk
  18. heartburn and/or indigestion (severe and continuous)
  19. increased hunger
  20. increased thirst
  21. increased urination
  22. loss of appetite
  23. loss of sexual desire or ability
  24. lower back or side pain
  25. menstrual irregularities
  26. muscle pain or tenderness
  27. muscle wasting or weakness
  28. nausea
  29. pain in back, ribs, arms, or legs
  30. painful or difficult urination
  31. skin rash
  32. sleeplessness
  33. sweating
  34. trouble healing
  35. trouble sleeping
  36. unexplained weight loss
  37. unusual tiredness or weakness
  38. vision changes
  39. vomiting
  40. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Blemishes on the skin
  2. bruising
  3. dry, scaly skin
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. full or bloated feeling
  6. increased appetite
  7. increased hair growth on the face, forehead, back, arms, and legs
  8. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
  9. pimples
  10. pitting or depression of the skin at the injection site
  11. reddish purple lines on the arms, face, legs, trunk, or groin
  12. redness of the skin
  13. redness, swelling, tenderness, or pain at the injection site
  14. sensation of spinning
  15. small, red, or purple spots on the skin
  16. thin, fragile, or shiny skin
  17. thinning of the scalp hair

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
