Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Dark urine
  2. itching
  3. light-colored stools
  4. loss of appetite
  5. nausea (continuing)
  6. tenderness in upper right part of abdomen
  7. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling sluggish
  8. unusual tiredness or weakness
  9. yellow eyes or skin

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. cough
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. dizziness or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
  6. drowsiness
  7. fainting
  8. fever
  9. hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
  10. headache
  11. nasal congestion (stuffy nose)
  12. nausea
  13. runny nose
  14. sneezing
  15. sore throat
  16. trouble in sleeping
  17. twitching, twisting, or other unusual body movements
  18. vomiting

Less common

  1. Absence of or decrease in body movement
  2. blood in urine
  3. chest pain
  4. chills
  5. confusion
  6. falling
  7. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  8. hyperactivity
  9. loss of balance control
  10. muscle pain
  11. troubled breathing

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. burning of feet
  4. burning, prickling, or tingling sensations
  5. chest discomfort
  6. difficult or painful urination
  7. difficulty in thinking or concentrating
  8. frequent urge to urinate
  9. irritability
  10. joint pain, redness, or swelling
  11. low blood pressure
  12. muscle cramps
  13. neck pain
  14. stiffness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. dryness of mouth
  3. excessive dreaming
  4. increased sweating

Less common

  1. Bleeding
  2. difficulty in sleeping
  3. excessive muscle tone
  4. fever
  5. heartburn
  6. gas
  7. muscle stiffness
  8. muscle tension or tightness
  9. trouble in holding or releasing urine

After you stop using this medicine, it may still produce some side effects that need attention. During this period of time, check with your doctor immediately if you notice the following side effects:
