Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bone pain
  3. chills
  4. cough or hoarseness
  5. decreased urine
  6. dizziness
  7. dry mouth
  8. fast heartbeat
  9. fever
  10. high blood pressure
  11. increased thirst
  12. irritability
  13. loss of appetite
  14. lower back or side pain
  15. mood changes
  16. muscle pain, cramps, or twitching
  17. nausea
  18. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  19. painful or difficult urination
  20. pale skin
  21. seizures
  22. sore throat
  23. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  24. trouble breathing
  25. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  26. unusual bleeding or bruising
  27. unusual tiredness or weakness
  28. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest tightness
  3. confusion
  4. difficulty swallowing
  5. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  6. drowsiness
  7. headache
  8. hives, itching, or skin rash
  9. muscle tremors
  10. nervousness
  11. pounding in the ears
  12. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  13. restlessness
  14. slow or fast heartbeat
  15. stomach cramps
  16. sweating

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Agitation
  2. blurred vision
  3. mental changes
  4. muscle cramps
  5. nausea and vomiting
  6. pain in the joints
  7. ringing in the ears
  8. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
