Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. coughing up blood
  5. fever
  6. hoarseness
  7. lower back or side pain
  8. painful or difficult urination
  9. pale skin
  10. skin rash
  11. sore throat
  12. trouble breathing with exertion
  13. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  14. unusual bleeding or bruising
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  4. excessive tearing of the eye
  5. eye pain
  6. fast heartbeat
  7. general feeling of illness
  8. headache
  9. hives, itching
  10. irritation
  11. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  12. loss of appetite
  13. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  14. redness of the skin
  15. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  16. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  17. tightness in the chest
  18. trouble breathing or swallowing
  19. weight loss

Rare

  1. Anxiety
  2. bloating
  3. blue or pale skin
  4. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  5. burning, tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  6. chest pain, possibly moving to the left arm, neck, or shoulder
  7. cloudy or dark urine
  8. cold sweat
  9. collection of blood under the skin
  10. confusion
  11. constipation
  12. deep, dark purple bruise
  13. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  14. dry mouth
  15. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  16. heartburn
  17. indigestion
  18. itching in the genital or other skin areas
  19. lack or loss of strength
  20. light-colored stools
  21. muscle pain
  22. nausea
  23. noisy breathing
  24. pain in the lower back or side
  25. pain or burning in the throat
  26. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  27. right upper stomach pain and fullness
  28. scaling of the skin
  29. seizures
  30. stabbing pain
  31. stomach upset
  32. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over the affected area
  33. thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor
  34. thickening of bronchial secretions
  35. thirst
  36. vaginal bleeding
  37. voice changes
  38. vomiting
  39. yellow skin or eyes

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. diarrhea
  3. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  4. sensitivity of the skin to the sun
  5. thinning of the skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Increased sweating

Less common

  1. Belching
  2. difficulty in moving

Rare

  1. Discoloration of the skin
  2. drowsiness
