Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. cough or hoarseness
  5. coughing up blood
  6. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  7. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  8. dizziness
  9. fever or chills
  10. frequent urge to urinate
  11. headache
  12. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  13. lower back or side pain
  14. nervousness
  15. nosebleeds
  16. painful or difficult urination
  17. pounding in the ears
  18. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  19. rash
  20. red or black, tarry stools
  21. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  22. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  23. slow or fast heartbeats
  24. tingling of the hands and feet
  25. ulcers on the skin

Less common

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. dark-colored urine
  3. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  4. light-colored stools
  5. nausea or vomiting
  6. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  7. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  8. stomach pain that continues
  9. sweating
  10. yellow eyes or skin

Rare

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  3. chills
  4. confusion
  5. diarrhea
  6. heartburn
  7. indigestion
  8. itching
  9. joint or muscle pain
  10. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  11. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  12. sore throat
  13. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  14. trouble breathing
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness
  16. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bad, unusual, or unpleasant taste
  2. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  3. lack or loss of strength
  4. muscle or joint stiffness
  5. weight loss

Less common

  1. Constipation
  2. depressed mood
  3. dry skin and hair
  4. feeling cold
  5. muscle cramps
  6. weight gain
