Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. agitation or irritability
  3. blurred vision
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. change in urination
  6. chest pain or discomfort
  7. clay-colored stools
  8. cold sweats
  9. confusion about identity, place, and time
  10. continuing ringing, buzzing, or other unexplained noise in the ears
  11. convulsions
  12. cool, pale skin
  13. difficulty with speaking
  14. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  15. double vision
  16. drooling
  17. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  18. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  19. feeling of warmth
  20. feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
  21. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  22. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  23. fever with or without chills
  24. hearing loss
  25. hostility
  26. hyperventilation
  27. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  28. lack of coordination
  29. lower back or side pain
  30. mood or mental changes
  31. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  32. muscle trembling or twitching
  33. nightmares
  34. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  35. panic
  36. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  37. pounding in the ears
  38. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  39. shakiness and unsteady walk
  40. slurred speech
  41. sore throat
  42. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  43. stiffness of the limbs
  44. stupor
  45. sweating
  46. swelling of face, ankles, or hands
  47. swollen glands
  48. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
  49. trouble sleeping
  50. twisting movements of body uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back
  51. unusual behavior
  52. unusual bleeding or bruising
  53. unusual tiredness or weakness
  54. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  55. weight gain or loss
  56. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Change in consciousness
  2. clumsiness
  3. disorientation
  4. disturbed concentration
  5. drowsiness to profound coma
  6. enlarged pupils
  7. increased or excessive unconscious or jerking movements
  8. low body temperature
  9. muscle aches or tightness
  10. muscle weakness
  11. severe sleepiness
  12. shivering
  13. trouble breathing
  14. weak or feeble pulse

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  3. black tongue
  4. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  5. enlargement or swelling of the breasts
  6. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  7. heartburn
  8. hives or welts
  9. increased in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  10. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  11. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  12. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  13. peculiar taste
  14. severe sunburn
  15. small red or purple spots on the skin
  16. swelling of the testicles
  17. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  18. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands on side of the face or neck
  19. unexpected or excess milk flow from the breasts
  20. waking to urinate at night
