Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Decreased coordination
  2. mental confusion
  3. nervousness
  4. slurred speech
  5. trouble with breathing, speaking, or swallowing
  6. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination

Rare

  1. Inability to move the eyes
  2. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  3. shakiness and unsteady walk shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  4. sticking out of the tongue
  5. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  6. twitching, twisting, or uncontrolled repetitive movements of the tongue, lips, face, arms, or legs
  7. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
  8. unusual facial expressions

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. blisters, hives, or itching
  5. bloating of the abdomen or stomach
  6. blood in the urine or stools
  7. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  8. chest pain
  9. chills
  10. cough or hoarseness
  11. dark urine
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficulty with moving
  14. fainting spells
  15. fever with or without chills
  16. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  17. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  18. hair loss
  19. headache
  20. high fever
  21. irregular heartbeat
  22. irritation in the mouth
  23. joint or muscle pain
  24. light-colored stools
  25. lower back or side pain
  26. muscle stiffness
  27. nausea or vomiting
  28. numbness, tingling, or pain in the hands or feet
  29. painful or difficult urination
  30. pale skin
  31. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  32. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  33. red, irritated eyes
  34. redness and swelling of the gums
  35. shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  36. skin blisters
  37. skin rash
  38. sore throat
  39. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  40. swollen glands
  41. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  42. unusual bleeding or bruising
  43. unusual tiredness
  44. upper right abdominal pain
  45. weakness
  46. weight loss
  47. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Sleeplessness
  2. trouble with sleeping
  3. unable to sleep
  4. uncontrolled eye movements

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. enlarged lips
  3. increased hair growth on the forehead, back, arms, or legs
  4. pain of penis on erection
