Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Fever
  2. joint pain
  3. lesions on the face, neck, scalp, and/or trunk
  4. skin rash, hives, or itching
  5. swollen and/or painful glands
  6. ulcers, sores, or white spots on lips or in mouth

Less common

  1. Bloody or cloudy urine
  2. shortness of breath, troubled breathing, tightness in chest, or wheezing
  3. sore throat and fever with or without chills
  4. swelling of face, feet, or lower legs
  5. unusual bleeding or bruising
  6. unusual tiredness or weakness
  7. weight gain

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain (severe)
  2. blisters on skin
  3. bloody or black, tarry stools
  4. chest pain
  5. coughing or hoarseness
  6. dark urine
  7. difficulty in breathing, chewing, talking, or swallowing
  8. eye pain, blurred or double vision, or any change in vision
  9. general feeling of discomfort or illness or weakness
  10. lower back or side pain
  11. muscle weakness
  12. painful or difficult urination
  13. pale stools
  14. pinpoint red spots on skin
  15. redness, tenderness, itching, burning, or peeling of skin
  16. red or irritated eyes
  17. red, thick, or scaly skin
  18. ringing or buzzing in the ears
  19. spitting blood
  20. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. lessening or loss of sense of taste
  3. loss of appetite
  4. nausea or vomiting
  5. stomach pain (mild)
