Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Skin rash

Less common

  1. Bloating
  2. bloody or black, tarry stools
  3. burning upper abdominal pain
  4. burning while urinating
  5. cloudy urine
  6. constipation
  7. decrease in urine output or decrease in urine-concentrating ability
  8. diarrhea
  9. difficult or painful urination
  10. frequent urination
  11. headache
  12. heartburn
  13. indigestion
  14. itching skin
  15. loss of appetite
  16. nausea or vomiting
  17. pale skin
  18. severe abdominal pain, cramping, or burning
  19. severe and continuing nausea
  20. swelling
  21. troubled breathing with exertion
  22. unusual bleeding or bruising
  23. unusual tiredness or weakness
  24. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  25. weight loss

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, loosening of skin
  4. blurred vision
  5. body aches or pain
  6. burning feeling in chest or stomach
  7. changes in blood pressure
  8. chest pain
  9. clay-colored stools
  10. coma
  11. confusion
  12. cough or hoarseness
  13. cracks in the skin
  14. dark urine
  15. depression
  16. difficult or labored breathing
  17. difficulty swallowing
  18. dilated neck veins
  19. dizziness
  20. ear congestion
  21. extreme fatigue
  22. fainting
  23. feeling of discomfort
  24. fever or chills
  25. fluid-filled skin blisters
  26. high fever
  27. hives or welts
  28. hostility
  29. increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight
  30. increased thirst
  31. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  32. inflammation of joints
  33. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  34. irritability
  35. joint or muscle pain
  36. large, flat, blue or purplish patches in the skin
  37. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  38. lethargy
  39. light-colored stools
  40. lightheadedness
  41. loss of heat from the body
  42. loss of voice
  43. lower back or side pain
  44. muscle aches
  45. muscle twitching
  46. nasal congestion
  47. nervousness
  48. noisy breathing
  49. pain or burning in throat
  50. pain or tenderness around eyes and cheekbones
  51. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  52. pinpoint red or purple spots on skin
  53. pounding in the ears
  54. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  55. rapid weight gain
  56. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  57. red, irritated eyes
  58. redness or other discoloration of skin
  59. redness, swelling, or soreness of tongue
  60. scaly skin
  61. seizures
  62. severe sunburn
  63. shortness of breath
  64. skin thinness
  65. slow, fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  66. sneezing
  67. sore throat
  68. sores, ulcers, or white spots on lips or tongue or inside the mouth
  69. stomach upset
  70. stuffy or runny nose
  71. stupor
  72. swelling of face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  73. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  74. swollen lymph glands
  75. tenderness in stomach area
  76. tightness in chest
  77. unpleasant breath odor
  78. upper right abdominal pain
  79. wheezing
  80. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. stomach discomfort

Less common

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in ears
  2. excess air or gas in stomach or intestines
  3. hearing loss
  4. passing gas
  5. relaxed and calm
  6. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  7. trouble sleeping

Rare

  1. Anxiety
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  4. change in taste
  5. decreased hearing
  6. discharge, excessive tearing
  7. dry mouth
  8. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  9. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  10. lack or loss of strength
  11. redness, pain, swelling of eye, eyelid, or inner lining of eyelid
  12. sensation of spinning
  13. shakiness in legs, arms, hands, feet
  14. sleeplessness
  15. trembling or shaking of hands or feet
  16. unable to sleep
