Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. body aches or pain
  3. confusion
  4. cough
  5. delusions
  6. dementia
  7. dryness or soreness of the throat
  8. fever
  9. hoarseness
  10. rapid weight gain
  11. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  12. stuffy or runny nose
  13. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  14. tingling of the hands or feet
  15. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  16. trouble with swallowing
  17. unusual weight gain or loss
  18. voice changes

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. change in personality
  3. change in vision
  4. chest tightness
  5. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  6. difficult or labored breathing
  7. difficulty with sleeping
  8. difficulty with speaking
  9. dizziness
  10. ear pain
  11. headache
  12. impaired vision
  13. inability to have or keep an erection
  14. increase in body movements
  15. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  16. loss of memory
  17. nervousness
  18. pounding in the ears
  19. problems with memory
  20. slow, fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse

Rare

  1. Inability to move the eyes
  2. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  3. sticking out of the tongue
  4. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
  5. unusual facial expressions

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. blindness
  3. bloody or black, tarry stools
  4. blue-yellow color blindness
  5. chest pain
  6. chills
  7. constipation
  8. dark-colored urine
  9. delayed or inability to have an orgasm
  10. difficulty swallowing
  11. eye pain
  12. fainting
  13. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  14. light-colored stools
  15. muscle pain, stiffness, cramps, or spasms
  16. painful or difficult urination
  17. painful or prolonged erection of the penis
  18. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  19. severe stomach pain
  20. sore throat
  21. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  22. stomach pain
  23. swollen glands
  24. unusual bleeding or bruising
  25. unusual tiredness or weakness
  26. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  27. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. dry mouth
  3. increased appetite
  4. lack or loss of strength
  5. weight gain

Less common

  1. Change or problem with discharge of semen
  2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  3. difficulty with moving
  4. inability to have or keep an erection
  5. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  6. not able to have an orgasm
  7. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  8. tooth disorder
  9. twitching

Incidence not known

  1. Decrease in smell
  2. loss of sense of smell
