Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. agitation
  3. anxiety
  4. black, tarry stools
  5. bleeding and bruising
  6. bleeding gums
  7. blood in the urine or stools
  8. blurred vision
  9. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  10. chest pain or discomfort
  11. clay-colored stools
  12. cold sweats
  13. confusion about identity, place, and time false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  14. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  15. convulsions
  16. cool, pale skin
  17. cough or hoarseness
  18. dark urine
  19. decrease in the frequency of urination
  20. decreased urine output or volume
  21. depression
  22. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  23. difficulty in speaking
  24. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  25. double vision
  26. drooling
  27. dry mouth
  28. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  29. feeling of warmth
  30. feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
  31. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  32. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  33. fever with or without chills
  34. flushed, dry skin
  35. fruit-like breath odor
  36. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  37. headache
  38. hearing loss
  39. hostility
  40. hyperventilation
  41. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  42. inability to speak
  43. increased hunger
  44. increased need to urinate
  45. increased thirst
  46. increased urination
  47. irritability
  48. itching
  49. lack of coordination
  50. lethargy
  51. loss of appetite
  52. loss of balance control
  53. lower back or side pain
  54. mood or mental changes
  55. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  56. muscle trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  57. muscle twitching
  58. nausea
  59. nightmares
  60. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  61. painful or difficult urination
  62. panic
  63. passing urine more often
  64. perspiration
  65. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  66. pounding in the ears
  67. rapid weight gain
  68. rash
  69. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  70. restlessness
  71. seizures
  72. shakiness and unsteady walk
  73. shortness of breath
  74. shuffling walk
  75. sleeplessness
  76. slow speech
  77. slurred speech
  78. sore throat
  79. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  80. stiffness of the limbs
  81. stupor
  82. sudden loss of consciousness
  83. sweating
  84. swelling of the face, ankles, legs, or hands
  85. swollen glands
  86. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
  87. trouble in holding or releasing urine
  88. trouble sleeping
  89. twisting movements of the body uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back
  90. unable to sleep
  91. unpleasant breath odor
  92. unsteadiness, awkwardness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  93. unusual behavior
  94. unusual bleeding or bruising
  95. unusual tiredness or weakness
  96. vomiting of blood
  97. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  98. weight gain or loss
  99. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  3. black tongue
  4. bloating
  5. decreased interest in sexual ability or desire
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  8. enlargement of the breast
  9. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  10. heartburn
  11. hives or welts
  12. inability to have or keep an erection
  13. increase in sexual ability or desire
  14. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  15. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  16. increased urge to urinate during the night
  17. loss in sexual ability or desire
  18. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  19. peculiar taste
  20. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  21. severe sunburn
  22. small red or purple spots on the skin
  23. swelling of the testicles
  24. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  25. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  26. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands on side of face or neck
  27. vision changes
  28. waking to urinate at night
