Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Fast or irregular heartbeat
  2. fever with or without chills
  3. headache
  4. nausea with or without vomiting
  5. runny nose
  6. shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, trouble with breathing, or wheezing
  7. skin rash, itching, or hives
  8. tearing of the eyes

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. cold sweat
  3. confusion
  4. convulsions (seizures)
  5. disturbed hearing and vision
  6. drooling
  7. extreme exhaustion
  8. pale skin
  9. slow heartbeat
  10. tremors

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. coughing
  4. heartburn
  5. indigestion
  6. mouth and throat irritation
  7. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  8. stuffy nose

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. back pain
  3. change in taste
  4. diarrhea
  5. dizziness
  6. feeling of burning, numbness, tightness, tingling, warmth, or heat
  7. feelings of drug dependence
  8. flu-like symptoms
  9. general pain
  10. hiccups
  11. mental depression
  12. pain in the jaw and neck
  13. pain in the muscles
  14. passing of gas
  15. problems with teeth
  16. trouble with sleeping
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness
