Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. difficult or labored breathing
  3. difficulty with swallowing
  4. fainting
  5. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  6. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  7. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips or tongue
  8. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  9. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  10. sense of detachment from self or body
  11. slow or irregular heartbeat

Incidence not known

  1. Blue lips and fingernails
  2. convulsions
  3. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  4. decrease in consciousness
  5. difficult, fast, or noisy breathing, sometimes with wheezing
  6. fear or nervousness
  7. fever
  8. hyperventilation
  9. increased sweating
  10. loss of bladder control
  11. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  12. pale skin
  13. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  14. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  15. stomach pain
  16. sudden loss of consciousness
  17. swelling in the legs and ankles
  18. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Dizziness or lightheadedness
  2. drowsiness
  3. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  4. nausea
  5. relaxed and calm
  6. sensation of spinning
  7. sleepiness
  8. sweaty, clammy skin
  9. vomiting

Less common

  1. Dry mouth
  2. Headache

Rare

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. aggressive or angry
  3. belching
  4. blurred vision
  5. burning
  6. changes in speech
  7. confusion
  8. cough
  9. discouragement
  10. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  11. dysphoria
  12. excessive crying
  13. false or unusual sense of well-being
  14. feeling of heaviness
  15. feeling of warmth
  16. feeling sad or empty
  17. floating feeling
  18. frequent strong or increased urge to urinate
  19. headache
  20. heartburn
  21. hives or welts, itching skin, rash
  22. indigestion
  23. irritability
  24. lack of appetite
  25. loss of interest or pleasure
  26. numbness
  27. pounding in the ears
  28. restlessness
  29. slow or fast heartbeat
  30. stomach discomfort or upset
  31. tiredness
  32. trouble concentrating
  33. trouble sleeping
  34. tingling feeling of unreality
  35. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
