Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Itching in the vagina
  2. pain during sexual intercourse
  3. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor

Less common

  1. Burning on urination or need to urinate more often
  2. burning or irritation of the penis of the sexual partner
  3. feeling of vaginal pressure
  4. itching, pain, stinging, or redness of the genital area

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Cramps
  2. diarrhea
  3. dizziness or lightheadedness
  4. dryness of the mouth
  5. feeling of a furry tongue
  6. headache
  7. heavy bleeding
  8. loss of appetite
  9. metallic taste or other change in taste sensation
  10. mild skin dryness and burning
  11. nausea
  12. skin irritation
  13. temporary skin redness
  14. vomiting

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
