Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Difficulty in breathing or swallowing
  2. fever over 39 °C (102 °F)
  3. itching, especially of the feet or hands
  4. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  5. swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose
  6. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Difficulty in moving
  2. joint pain
  3. muscle pain or stiffness

Incidence not known

  1. Back pain, sudden and severe
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blindness or vision changes
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. bloody nose
  7. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, painful, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  8. burning of the face or mouth
  9. change in walking and balance
  10. chest tightness
  11. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  12. confusion
  13. cough
  14. dizziness
  15. drowsiness
  16. fainting
  17. fast heartbeat
  18. fever
  19. general feeling of illness
  20. heavier menstrual periods
  21. inability to move the arms and legs
  22. irritability
  23. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
  24. muscle weakness, sudden and progressing
  25. nausea
  26. pain in the stomach, groin, or scrotum
  27. pain or burning with urination
  28. painful knees and ankles
  29. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  30. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  31. raised red swellings on the skin, the buttocks, legs, or ankles
  32. seizures
  33. severe headache
  34. skin rash
  35. stiff neck or back
  36. stomach pain
  37. sudden numbness and weakness in the arms and legs
  38. swelling of the scrotum
  39. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands on the side of the face or neck
  40. unusual bleeding or bruising
  41. vomiting
  42. weakness in the hands or feet

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. loss of appetite
  3. sleepiness

Less common

  1. Runny nose
  2. sore throat
  3. vague feeling of bodily discomfort
