Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Confusion, poor memory, or lack of awareness
  2. fainting
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. frequent urination
  5. increased thirst
  6. slow heartbeat
  7. stiffness of the arms or legs
  8. troubled breathing (especially during hard work or exercise)
  9. unusual tiredness or weakness
  10. weight gain

Rare

  1. Blue color and pain in the fingers and toes
  2. coldness of the arms and legs
  3. dizziness
  4. eye pain
  5. headache
  6. noise in the ears
  7. vision problems

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  3. chills
  4. cloudy urine
  5. cough
  6. decreased urination
  7. difficulty in speaking
  8. drooling
  9. dry mouth
  10. eyeballs bulge out of the eye sockets
  11. fever
  12. flushed, dry skin
  13. fruit-like breath odor
  14. general feeling of illness
  15. increase in heart rate
  16. increased hunger
  17. increased urination
  18. indigestion
  19. irregular heartbeat, recurrent
  20. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  21. lightheadedness
  22. loss of balance control
  23. loss of strength or energy
  24. muscle pain or weakness
  25. muscle trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  26. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
  27. rapid breathing
  28. restlessness or agitation
  29. shakiness and unsteady walk
  30. shuffling walk
  31. sore throat
  32. stomach pain or upset
  33. sugar in the urine
  34. sunken eyes
  35. swelling of the ankles or wrists
  36. tenderness in the stomach area
  37. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to the cold
  38. tremor
  39. twisting movements of the bod
  40. twitching
  41. uncontrolled jerking or twisting movements of the hands, arms, or legs
  42. uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back
  43. unexplained weight loss
  44. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  45. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  46. unusually strong reflexes
  47. wrinkled skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred vision
  2. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  3. convulsions (seizures)
  4. diarrhea
  5. drowsiness
  6. increase in the amount of urine
  7. lack of coordination
  8. loss of appetite
  9. muscle weakness
  10. nausea
  11. ringing in the ears
  12. slurred speech
  13. trembling (severe)
  14. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Acne or skin rash
  2. bloated feeling or pressure in the stomach
  3. change in or loss of taste
  4. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  5. diarrhea
  6. drying and thinning of hair
  7. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  8. full feeling
  9. inability to have or keep an erection
  10. increased watering of the mouth
  11. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  12. passing gas
  13. salivary gland swelling
  14. tooth pain

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
