Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bleeding gums
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. blood in the urine or stools
  5. blurred vision or other change in vision
  6. chest pain or discomfort
  7. chills
  8. cloudy urine
  9. confusion
  10. constipation
  11. cough
  12. coughing up blood
  13. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  14. depressed mood
  15. diarrhea
  16. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  17. dilated neck veins
  18. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  19. dry skin and hair
  20. feeling cold
  21. fever
  22. hair loss
  23. heavy jaw feeling
  24. hoarseness or husky voice
  25. increase in heart rate
  26. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  27. loosening of a tooth
  28. lower back or side pain
  29. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  30. muscle stiffness
  31. nervousness
  32. nosebleeds
  33. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  34. pain, swelling, or numbness in the mouth, or jaw
  35. painful or difficult urination
  36. pale skin
  37. paralysis
  38. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  39. pounding in the ears
  40. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  41. rapid or irregular breathing
  42. rapid weight gain
  43. red or black, tarry stools
  44. red or dark brown urine
  45. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  46. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  47. severe headache
  48. slow or fast heartbeat
  49. sore throat
  50. stomach pain and bloating
  51. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  52. tingling of the hands or feet
  53. tremor
  54. ulceration of the skin
  55. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  56. unusual bleeding or bruising
  57. unusual tiredness or weakness
  58. unusual weight gain or loss
  59. vomiting
  60. wrinkled skin

Less common

  1. Clay-colored stools
  2. difficulty with speaking
  3. heartburn or indigestion
  4. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  5. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  6. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  7. stomach tenderness
  8. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds
  9. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Abnormal small opening
  2. loss of appetite
  3. severe nausea or vomiting
  4. slow wound healing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Belching
  2. change or loss of taste
  3. decreased weight
  4. dry mouth
  5. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  6. itching, skin rash
  7. muscle or joint pain
  8. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  9. trouble sleeping
  10. voice changes
