Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. accumulation of pus
  3. back pain
  4. black, tarry stools
  5. bleeding gums
  6. blood in urine or stools
  7. blurred vision
  8. chest pain
  9. chest tightness
  10. chills
  11. clay-colored stools
  12. confusion
  13. dark urine
  14. dizziness
  15. drowsiness
  16. facial swelling
  17. faintness
  18. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  19. fever
  20. flushing
  21. headache
  22. hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at injection site
  23. itching
  24. lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  25. loss of appetite
  26. nausea or vomiting
  27. pale skin
  28. pinpoint red spots on skin
  29. shortness of breath
  30. skin rash
  31. sweating
  32. swollen, red, or tender area of infection
  33. trouble breathing
  34. unpleasant breath odor
  35. unusual bleeding or bruising
  36. unusual tiredness or weakness
  37. vomiting of blood
  38. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Cough
  2. difficulty breathing
  3. itching skin
  4. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  5. noisy breathing
  6. redness of skin
  7. tightness in chest
  8. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, or discoloration of skin
  2. blindness
  3. body aches or pain
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. decreased vision
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty in moving
  8. ear congestion
  9. feeling of pressure
  10. loss of voice
  11. muscle pain or stiffness
  12. nasal congestion
  13. overactive reflexes
  14. pain in joints
  15. runny nose
  16. sneezing
  17. sore throat
  18. swelling of legs and feet
  19. swelling or puffiness of face
  20. varicose or spider veins
