Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chills
  2. fever
  3. pale skin
  4. sore throat
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain (severe)
  2. burning, tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  3. muscle tenderness and weakness
  4. nausea
  5. skin rash
  6. vomiting
  7. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. canker sores
  3. chest discomfort or pain
  4. chills
  5. convulsions
  6. dark urine
  7. decreased appetite
  8. difficulty with breathing
  9. difficulty with swallowing
  10. dizziness
  11. faintness
  12. fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
  13. fast, shallow breathing
  14. feeling of fullness
  15. general feeling of discomfort
  16. general tiredness and weakness
  17. hives or welts
  18. itching
  19. itching, puffiness, or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  20. jerking of all extremities
  21. joint or muscle pain
  22. light-colored stools
  23. loss of bladder control
  24. muscle pain, spasms, stiffness, or cramping
  25. red skin lesions often with a purple center
  26. red, irritated eyes
  27. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  28. sensation of pins and needles
  29. shortness of breath
  30. sleepiness
  31. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips or tongue
  32. sores, welting or blisters
  33. stabbing pain
  34. sudden loss of consciousness
  35. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  36. tingling, burning, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  37. tightness in the chest
  38. troubled with breathing
  39. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  40. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Headache

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain (mild)
  2. coughing
  3. decreased appetite
  4. diarrhea
  5. dizziness
  6. trouble in sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Abnormal breathing
  2. blurred vision
  3. body fat redistribution or accumulation
  4. darkening of the skin and mucous membranes
  5. dry mouth
  6. fatigue
  7. flushed, dry skin
  8. fruit-like breath odor
  9. hair loss
  10. increased hunger
  11. increased thirst
  12. increased urination
  13. sweating
  14. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  15. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  16. thinning of the hair
  17. troubled breathing, unexplained
