Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Back, leg, or stomach pains
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  5. bloating
  6. blood in the urine or stools
  7. blue lips and fingernails
  8. blurred vision
  9. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  10. chest pain or tightness
  11. chills
  12. clay-colored stools
  13. cloudy urine
  14. cold sweats
  15. confusion
  16. constipation
  17. cough or hoarseness
  18. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  19. coughing up blood
  20. cracks in the skin
  21. darkened urine
  22. decrease in urine-concentrating ability
  23. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  24. diarrhea
  25. difficult, fast, or noisy breathing
  26. difficulty with swallowing
  27. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
  28. dry mouth
  29. fast or irregular heartbeat
  30. fever
  31. flushed, dry skin
  32. fruit-like breath odor
  33. general body swelling
  34. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  35. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  36. headache
  37. hives, itching, rash
  38. increased hunger
  39. increased sweating
  40. increased thirst
  41. increased urination
  42. indigestion
  43. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  44. loss of appetite
  45. loss of heat from the body
  46. lower back or side pain
  47. muscle cramps or pain
  48. nausea or vomiting
  49. nosebleeds
  50. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  51. painful or difficult urination
  52. pains in the stomach or side, possibly radiating to the back
  53. pale skin
  54. persistent non-healing sore
  55. pink growth
  56. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  57. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  58. red, irritated eyes
  59. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  60. red, swollen skin
  61. reddish patch or irritated area
  62. redness, soreness, or scaly skin
  63. seizures
  64. shiny bump
  65. sore throat
  66. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  67. sores, welting, or blisters
  68. swelling of the face, fingers, legs, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  69. swollen or painful glands
  70. tenderness of salivary glands
  71. thickening of bronchial secretions
  72. trembling
  73. trouble breathing
  74. unpleasant breath odor
  75. unusual bleeding or bruising
  76. unusual tiredness or weakness
  77. unusual weight loss
  78. vomiting of blood
  79. weakness and heaviness of the legs
  80. weight gain
  81. white, yellow or waxy scar-like area
  82. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Incidence not known

  1. Cramping
  2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  3. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  6. inability to have or keep an erection
  7. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  8. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  9. muscle spasm
  10. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  11. restlessness
  12. sensation of spinning
  13. severe sunburn
  14. weakness

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
