Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. bloating
  3. clay-colored stools
  4. constipation
  5. darkened urine
  6. indigestion
  7. itching
  8. large, flat, blue or purplish patches in the skin
  9. loss of appetite
  10. nausea
  11. painful knees and ankles
  12. pains in stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  13. pinpoint red spots on skin
  14. raised red swellings on the skin, the buttocks, legs, or ankles
  15. skin rash
  16. unpleasant breath odor
  17. vomiting of blood
  18. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not determined

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. blood in urine
  4. blurred vision
  5. cold sweats
  6. coma
  7. confusion
  8. convulsions (seizures)
  9. cool, pale skin
  10. cough or hoarseness
  11. depression
  12. dizziness
  13. dry mouth
  14. fast heartbeat
  15. fever with or without chills
  16. flushed, dry skin
  17. fruit-like breath odor
  18. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  19. headache
  20. increased hunger
  21. increased thirst
  22. increased urination
  23. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  24. lower back, side, or stomach pain
  25. nausea
  26. nervousness
  27. nightmares
  28. painful or difficult urination
  29. pale skin
  30. shakiness
  31. shortness of breath
  32. slurred speech
  33. sore throat
  34. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  35. sweating
  36. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  37. troubled breathing
  38. unexplained weight loss
  39. unusual bleeding or bruising
  40. unusual tiredness or weakness
  41. vomiting
  42. watery and severe diarrhea

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Confusion
  2. decreased urination
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  4. increase in heart rate
  5. irregular heartbeat
  6. muscle cramps or pain
  7. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  8. rapid breathing
  9. sunken eyes
  10. thirst
  11. trembling
  12. weakness and heaviness of the legs
  13. wrinkled skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in ears
  2. difficulty swallowing
  3. fear
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. feeling of fullness in the ears
  6. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  7. hearing loss
  8. mild diarrhea
  9. sensation of spinning
  10. stomach soreness or discomfort
  11. weight loss
