Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chills
  2. cough
  3. fever
  4. sneezing
  5. sore throat

Less common

  1. Chest tightness
  2. depression
  3. fast heartbeat
  4. frequent or painful urination
  5. itching, pain, redness, or swelling on the skin
  6. joint or muscle stiffness, tightness, or rigidity
  7. stomach discomfort or pain

Incidence not known

  1. Bladder pain
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  4. blue-yellow color blindness
  5. blurred vision
  6. chest discomfort or pain
  7. cloudy or bloody urine
  8. confusion
  9. dark urine
  10. decreased urine output
  11. decreased vision
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficult, irregular, troubled, or labored breathing (or difficulty with breathing gets worse)
  14. difficulty with moving
  15. dilated neck veins
  16. double vision
  17. extreme fatigue
  18. eye pain
  19. feeling sad or empty
  20. fruit-like breath odor
  21. general feeling of discomfort, illness, or weakness
  22. generalized pain
  23. heartburn
  24. high blood pressure
  25. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  26. indigestion
  27. irregular heartbeat
  28. joint or muscle pain
  29. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  30. lightheadedness
  31. loss of consciousness
  32. muscle tenderness
  33. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  34. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  35. problems with bowel or bladder function
  36. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  37. red, scaling, or crusted skin
  38. seizures
  39. severe and continuing nausea
  40. severe numbness, especially on one side of the face or body
  41. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  42. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  43. tenderness
  44. trouble concentrating
  45. trouble sleeping
  46. unexplained weight loss
  47. unusual bleeding or bruising
  48. unusual tiredness or weakness
  49. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  50. weight loss
  51. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Loss of energy or weakness
  2. nausea
  3. pain or burning in the throat
  4. redness or itching, pain, or swelling at the injection site (under the skin)
  5. runny or stuffy nose
  6. stomach pain
  7. vomiting

Less common

  1. Bumps below the skin
  2. dry eyes
  3. dry mouth
  4. hair loss or thinning
  5. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  6. itching, redness, or tearing of the eye
  7. skin rash

Incidence not known

  1. Altered sense of taste
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numb, prickling, “pins and needles”, or tingling feelings
  3. feeling faint, dizzy, or lightheaded
  4. feeling of warmth or heat
  5. flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck
  6. loss of appetite
  7. sweating
  8. weight gain

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
