Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. ankle, knee, or great toe joint pain
  3. arm, back, or jaw pain
  4. bladder pain
  5. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  6. bloody or cloudy urine
  7. blurred vision
  8. chest pain or discomfort
  9. chest tightness or heaviness
  10. confusion
  11. convulsions
  12. decreased urine output
  13. difficulty breathing
  14. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  15. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  16. dry mouth
  17. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  18. feeling of warmth
  19. fever
  20. flushed or dry skin
  21. frequent urination
  22. fruit-like breath odor
  23. headache
  24. increased hunger
  25. increased thirst
  26. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  27. itching of the skin
  28. joint stiffness or swelling
  29. loss of appetite
  30. loss of bladder control
  31. loss of consciousness
  32. lower back or side pain
  33. muscle pain or cramps
  34. nausea or vomiting
  35. nervousness
  36. numbness and tingling of the face, fingers, or toes
  37. pale, bluish-colored, or cold hands or feet
  38. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  39. rapid weight gain
  40. sudden decrease in the amount of urine
  41. sudden sweating
  42. unexplained weight loss
  43. unusual bleeding or bruising
  44. unusual tiredness or weakness
  45. unusual weight gain or loss
  46. weakness or heaviness of the legs

Incidence not known

  1. Back, leg, or stomach pains
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. chills
  7. constipation
  8. cough or hoarseness
  9. coughing up blood
  10. darkened urine
  11. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficulty with swallowing
  14. drowsiness
  15. fever with or without chills
  16. general body swelling
  17. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  18. hives
  19. indigestion
  20. irritability
  21. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  22. nosebleeds
  23. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  24. pale skin
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  27. red, irritated eyes
  28. skin rash
  29. sore throat
  30. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  31. swollen or painful glands
  32. thickening of bronchial secretions
  33. unusual weight loss
  34. vision changes
  35. weak pulse
  36. weight gain
  37. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Rare

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. body aches or pain
  4. bone pain
  5. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  6. burning or stinging of the skin
  7. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  8. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  9. change in hearing
  10. cold or flu-like symptoms
  11. congestion
  12. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  13. cough producing mucus
  14. depression
  15. difficulty moving
  16. ear drainage
  17. earache
  18. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  19. fear or nervousness
  20. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  21. feeling unusually cold
  22. full feeling
  23. headache, severe and throbbing
  24. hearing loss
  25. heartburn
  26. increased sweating
  27. irritation in the mouth
  28. itching ears
  29. lack or loss of strength
  30. loose teeth
  31. loss of voice
  32. multiple swollen and inflamed skin lesions
  33. muscle stiffness
  34. pain, inflammation, or swelling in the calves, shoulders, or hands
  35. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
  36. passing gas
  37. persistent breath odor or bad taste in your mouth
  38. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin
  39. redness and swelling of the gums
  40. redness or swelling of the ears
  41. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  42. runny or stuffy nose
  43. sensation of spinning
  44. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  45. shivering
  46. skin rash, encrusted, scaly, and oozing
  47. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  48. sneezing
  49. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  50. tenderness in the stomach area
  51. toothache
  52. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  53. trouble sleeping
  54. voice changes
  55. weight loss

Incidence not known

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  3. hives or welts
  4. inability to have or keep an erection
  5. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  6. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  7. muscle spasm
  8. redness of the skin
  9. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  10. severe sunburn
  11. tenderness of the salivary glands
