Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blisters under the skin
  2. body aches or pain
  3. chills
  4. difficulty in breathing
  5. ear congestion
  6. fever
  7. loss of voice
  8. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  9. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin
  10. redness of the skin
  11. runny or stuffy nose
  12. sore throat
  13. spots on your skin resembling a blister or pimple
  14. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Blindness or vision changes
  2. burning of the face or mouth
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, painful, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  4. chest pain
  5. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  6. stabbing pain
  7. weakness in the hands or feet

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. bloating
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. bone pain
  5. change in how much or how often you urinate
  6. confusion
  7. constipation
  8. cough
  9. dark urine
  10. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  11. difficult or painful urination
  12. difficulty in swallowing
  13. fast heartbeat
  14. fast, shallow breathing
  15. general feeling of discomfort
  16. increased thirst
  17. indigestion
  18. irritability
  19. itching skin, hives, welts
  20. loss of appetite
  21. loss of consciousness
  22. lower back or side pain
  23. muscle pain, cramp, or twitching
  24. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. rapid weight gain
  27. seizures
  28. severe sleepiness
  29. stomach pain
  30. sudden decrease in the amount of urine
  31. swelling of the face, fingers, hands, lower legs, or ankles
  32. tightness in the chest
  33. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  34. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Depression
  2. diarrhea
  3. nausea

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. back pain
  3. belching
  4. difficulty in moving
  5. heartburn
  6. joint pain or swelling
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. pain
  9. passing of gas
  10. stomach upset
  11. sweating
  12. trouble sleeping
  13. vomiting
  14. weight loss
