Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Chest pain or tightness
  2. difficulty with swallowing
  3. tightness in the throat

Rare

  1. Chest discomfort
  2. dizziness
  3. headache
  4. nausea
  5. nosebleeds
  6. numbness or tingling in the face, arms or legs
  7. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back or neck
  8. sweating
  9. vision problems
  10. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. agitation
  3. bloody diarrhea
  4. confusion
  5. cough
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty in speaking
  8. fainting
  9. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  10. fever
  11. inability to move arms, legs, or facial muscles
  12. overactive reflexes
  13. pain in the arms legs, or lower back, especially pain in calves or heels upon exertion
  14. pale, bluish-colored, or cold hands or feet
  15. paleness or cold feeling in fingertips and toes
  16. poor coordination
  17. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  18. restlessness
  19. seizures
  20. severe or sudden headache
  21. shivering
  22. skin rash, hives, or itching
  23. slurred speech
  24. sudden loss of coordination
  25. sweating
  26. talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  27. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  28. trembling or shaking
  29. twitching
  30. unusual tiredness or weakness
  31. weak or absent pulses in the legs
  32. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Lack or loss of strength
  2. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, “pins and needles”, or tingling feelings
  4. dry mouth
  5. heartburn
  6. indigestion
  7. stomach soreness or discomfort
  8. stomach upset
