Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  3. shortness of breath
  4. slow or irregular heartbeat
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Chills
  2. decrease in the amount of urine
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. fever

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. blurred vision
  7. burning while urinating
  8. changes in skin color
  9. confusion
  10. cough
  11. depression
  12. difficult or labored breathing
  13. difficult or painful urination
  14. difficulty with swallowing
  15. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  16. frequent urination
  17. headache
  18. hives or welts
  19. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  20. irritability
  21. itching of the skin
  22. lethargy
  23. low blood pressure
  24. muscle twitching
  25. nausea
  26. noisy breathing
  27. numbness and tingling of the face, fingers, or toes
  28. pain in the arms, legs, or lower back, especially pain in the calves or heels upon exertion
  29. pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg
  30. pale skin
  31. pale, bluish-colored, or cold hands or feet
  32. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  33. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  34. rapid weight gain
  35. red skin
  36. seizures
  37. skin rash
  38. sweating
  39. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  40. tightness in the chest
  41. tingling of the hands or feet
  42. troubled breathing with exertion
  43. unusual bleeding or bruising
  44. unusual weight gain or loss
  45. weak or absent pulses in the legs
  46. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Diarrhea

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. heartburn
  4. indigestion
  5. pain
  6. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain

Rare

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. agitation
  3. bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  4. bloating
  5. bloody nose
  6. change in color vision
  7. change in taste
  8. changes in vision
  9. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  10. darkened urine
  11. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  12. difficulty seeing at night
  13. difficulty with moving
  14. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  15. feeling of unreality
  16. feeling of warmth
  17. hearing loss
  18. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  19. increased sweating
  20. joint pain
  21. loss of appetite
  22. muscle aching or cramping
  23. muscle pain or stiffness
  24. pain or burning sensation at the injection site
  25. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  26. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  27. sensation of spinning
  28. sense of detachment from self or body
  29. shakiness and unsteady walk
  30. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  31. swollen joints
  32. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  33. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  34. vomiting
  35. weight loss
  36. yellow eyes or skin
