Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  3. slow or irregular heartbeat
  4. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Chills
  2. decrease in the amount of urine
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. fever

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. blurred vision
  7. burning while urinating
  8. changes in skin color
  9. confusion
  10. cough
  11. delirium
  12. depression
  13. diarrhea
  14. difficult or labored breathing
  15. difficult or painful urination
  16. difficulty with swallowing
  17. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  18. feeling of warmth
  19. feeling uncoordinated
  20. frequent urination
  21. hallucinations
  22. headache
  23. hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
  24. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  25. irritability
  26. lethargy
  27. muscle twitching
  28. nausea
  29. noisy breathing
  30. numbness and tingling of the face, fingers, or toes
  31. pain in the arms, legs, or lower back, especially pain in the calves or heels upon exertion
  32. pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg
  33. pale skin
  34. pale, bluish-colored, or cold hands or feet
  35. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  36. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  37. rapid weight gain
  38. red skin
  39. rigid muscles
  40. seizures
  41. sweating
  42. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  43. tightness in the chest
  44. tingling of the hands or feet
  45. tremor
  46. troubled breathing with exertion
  47. unusual bleeding or bruising
  48. unusual weight gain or loss
  49. vomiting
  50. weak or absent pulses in the legs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Belching
  2. heartburn
  3. indigestion
  4. pain
  5. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain

Rare

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  3. bloating
  4. bloody nose
  5. change in taste
  6. changes in vision
  7. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  8. darkened urine
  9. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  10. difficulty seeing at night
  11. difficulty with moving
  12. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  13. feeling of unreality
  14. hearing loss
  15. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  16. increased sweating
  17. joint pain
  18. loss of appetite
  19. muscle aching or cramping
  20. muscle pain or stiffness
  21. pain or burning sensation at the injection site
  22. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  23. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  24. sensation of spinning
  25. sense of detachment from self or body
  26. shakiness and unsteady walk
  27. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  28. swollen joints
  29. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  30. weight loss
  31. yellow eyes or skin
