Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Chills
  2. cold sweats
  3. confusion
  4. continuous ringing, buzzing, or other unexplained noise in the ears
  5. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  6. delayed or inability to have an orgasm
  7. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  8. fast, pounding, or irregular pulse
  9. fear or nervousness
  10. headache
  11. hearing loss
  12. inability to have or keep an erection
  13. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  14. numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
  15. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  16. trouble thinking, speaking, or walking
  17. weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. bloating
  3. blood in the stool or urine
  4. chest tightness, discomfort, or pain
  5. cough
  6. dark urine
  7. diarrhea
  8. dilated or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  9. dizziness
  10. feeling irritated
  11. fainting
  12. fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
  13. fever
  14. hives, itching, or rash
  15. hoarseness
  16. indigestion
  17. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  18. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  19. loss of appetite
  20. loss of bladder control
  21. muscle pain
  22. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  23. nausea
  24. nosebleeds
  25. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  26. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  27. red, irritated eyes
  28. red skin
  29. seizures
  30. sore throat
  31. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  32. sudden loss of consciousness
  33. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  34. talking, feeling, or acting with excitement
  35. trouble breathing or swallowing
  36. unusual bleeding or bruising
  37. unusual tiredness or weakness
  38. vomiting
  39. vomiting blood
  40. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Agitation
  2. bloating
  3. dark urine
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. irregular heartbeat recurrent
  6. light-colored stools
  7. muscle cramp or stiffness
  8. nausea
  9. overactive reflexes
  10. poor coordination
  11. restlessness
  12. seizures
  13. sensation of spinning
  14. shivering
  15. stomach pain
  16. vomiting
  17. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Decreased appetite
  2. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  3. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  4. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Change in taste
  2. decreased weight
  3. difficult urination
  4. jitteriness
  5. lack or loss of strength
  6. loss of taste

Incidence not known

  1. Decrease in smell
  2. loss of sense of smell
