Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. body aches or pain
  5. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  6. confusion
  7. congestion
  8. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  9. cough
  10. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  11. discouragement
  12. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  13. dryness or soreness of the throat
  14. excessive muscle tone
  15. fear or nervousness
  16. feeling sad or empty
  17. fever
  18. frequent urge to urinate
  19. hearing loss
  20. hoarseness
  21. irritability
  22. lack of appetite
  23. loss of interest or pleasure
  24. lower back or side pain
  25. muscle stiffness
  26. muscle tension or tightness
  27. muscle twitching or jerking
  28. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  29. poor concentration
  30. problems in urination or increase in the amount of urine
  31. rhythmic movement of muscles
  32. runny nose
  33. shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  34. sneezing
  35. stuffy nose
  36. sweating
  37. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  38. tightness of the chest or wheezing
  39. tiredness
  40. trouble concentrating
  41. trouble remembering
  42. trouble sleeping
  43. trouble swallowing
  44. unusual tiredness or weakness
  45. voice changes

Less common

  1. Anger that is hard to control
  2. anxiety
  3. bloody nose
  4. breast enlargement
  5. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  6. burning while urinating
  7. changes in vision
  8. chills
  9. crying
  10. decrease in the frequency of urination
  11. decrease in urine volume
  12. depersonalization
  13. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  14. difficulty in speaking
  15. discharge or excessive tearing
  16. dry mouth
  17. dysphoria
  18. earache
  19. euphoria
  20. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  21. feeling of unreality
  22. headache, severe and throbbing
  23. hyperventilation
  24. increased clear or white vaginal discharge
  25. increased watering of the mouth
  26. irregular heartbeats
  27. irritability
  28. itching of the vagina or genital area
  29. mental depression
  30. nausea or vomiting
  31. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  32. pain during sexual intercourse
  33. pale skin
  34. panic attacks
  35. paranoia
  36. partial or slight paralysis
  37. quick to react or overreact emotionally
  38. rapidly changing moods
  39. redness or swelling in the ear
  40. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  41. restlessness
  42. sense of detachment from self or body
  43. shaking
  44. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  45. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  46. troubled breathing with exertion
  47. unusual bleeding or bruising

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. bad, unusual, or unpleasant aftertaste
  3. belching
  4. blemishes on the skin
  5. blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  6. bloated
  7. change in taste
  8. change or problem with discharge of semen
  9. changes in vision
  10. constipation
  11. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  12. cramps
  13. darkening or lightening of skin color
  14. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  15. diarrhea
  16. difficulty with moving
  17. dry skin
  18. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  19. feeling of warmth
  20. full feeling
  21. heartburn
  22. heavy bleeding
  23. hives or welts
  24. inability to have or keep an erection
  25. increased appetite
  26. increased in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  27. increased interest in sexual intercourse
  28. indigestion
  29. joint pain
  30. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  31. pain
  32. passing gas
  33. pimples
  34. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  35. redness of the skin
  36. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  37. skin rash
  38. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  39. swelling
  40. swollen joints
  41. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet

Less common

  1. Absent, missed, or irregular menstrual periods
  2. breast pain
  3. increased yawning
  4. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  5. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or tongue or inside the mouth
  6. stopping of menstrual bleeding
