Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. chills
  4. cold sweats
  5. confusion
  6. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from lying or sitting position
  7. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  8. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  9. rapid weight gain
  10. swelling around the eyes
  11. tingling of the hands or feet
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness
  13. unusual weight gain or loss

Incidence not known

  1. Chest pain or tightness
  2. continuing loss of appetite
  3. continuing or severe abdominal or stomach pain
  4. continuing or severe nausea and vomiting
  5. cough
  6. decreased ability to exercise
  7. fever
  8. increased frequency of urination
  9. loss of appetite
  10. lower abdominal or stomach pain
  11. lower back pain
  12. nausea
  13. trouble breathing
  14. vomiting
  15. weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Fainting
  2. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  3. stuffy nose

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. dizziness
  3. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  4. full feeling
  5. headache
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. passing gas

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. acid or sour stomach
  3. anxiety
  4. belching
  5. blemishes on the skin
  6. breast pain
  7. burning, itching, or stinging of the skin
  8. changes in vision
  9. cramps
  10. depression
  11. diarrhea
  12. difficulty with moving
  13. dry mouth or toothache
  14. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  15. feeling of warmth
  16. gas
  17. heartburn
  18. heavy bleeding
  19. indigestion
  20. itching skin
  21. joint pain
  22. muscle aches and pains
  23. muscle stiffness
  24. pimples
  25. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  26. runny nose
  27. sensation of spinning
  28. shivering
  29. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  30. sneezing
  31. sore throat
  32. stomach discomfort or upset
  33. sudden sweating
  34. trouble sleeping
  35. weight loss

Rare

  1. Bloody nose
  2. difficulty in concentrating
  3. increased in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  4. increased interest in sexual intercourse

Incidence not known

  1. Attack, assault, or force
  2. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  3. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  4. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  5. pathological gambling
  6. severe mood or mental changes
  7. unusual behavior
