Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chills
  2. cough
  3. feeling faint, dizzy, or lightheaded
  4. feeling of warmth or heat
  5. fever
  6. flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck
  7. headache
  8. hoarseness
  9. lower back or side pain
  10. painful or difficult urination
  11. sweating

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. blurred vision
  5. chest tightness
  6. cold sweats
  7. coma
  8. cool, pale skin
  9. darkening of the skin
  10. depression
  11. diarrhea
  12. difficulty swallowing
  13. dizziness
  14. fainting
  15. fast heartbeat
  16. hives, itching, skin rash
  17. increased hunger
  18. loss of appetite
  19. mental depression
  20. nausea
  21. nervousness
  22. nightmares
  23. overactive reflexes
  24. poor coordination
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. rapid weight gain
  27. restlessness shivering talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  28. seizures
  29. shakiness
  30. slurred speech
  31. tingling of the hands or feet
  32. toothache
  33. trembling or shaking twitching
  34. unusual weight gain or loss
  35. vomiting

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. difficult or trouble breathing
  4. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  5. drowsiness
  6. irregular, fast, slow, or shallow breathing
  7. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  8. pinpoint pupils
  9. relaxed and calm feeling
  10. sleepiness
  11. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement
  2. lack or loss of strength
  3. stomach pain
  4. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. diarrhea
  3. runny or stuffy nose
  4. sneezing

Incidence not known

  1. Burning or sore mouth
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings inside the mouth
  3. decline or loss of libido or sexual desire
  4. irritability
  5. mood swings
  6. poor concentration
  7. redness, swelling, or soreness of the tongue
  8. reduced muscle strength
  9. swelling, inflammation, or redness of the mouth
