Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision

Less common

  1. Discharge from the eye
  2. dry eyes
  3. redness, soreness, irritation, or pain of the eye or eyelid
  4. skin rash

Rare

  1. Chest pain
  2. cough
  3. crusting in the corner of the eye
  4. difficulty with swallowing
  5. dizziness
  6. double vision
  7. excessive muscle tone
  8. eye redness, irritation, or pain
  9. fast heartbeat
  10. hives
  11. itching, swelling, or other signs of eye or eyelid irritation
  12. kidney pain
  13. muscle stiffness
  14. muscle tension or tightness
  15. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  16. seeing double
  17. shortness of breath
  18. sore throat
  19. tightness in the chest
  20. unusual tiredness or weakness
  21. wheezing

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. chills
  4. clay-colored stools
  5. dark urine
  6. diarrhea
  7. fever with or without chills
  8. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  9. headache
  10. hoarseness
  11. joint or muscle pain
  12. loss of appetite
  13. lower back or side pain
  14. nausea
  15. painful or difficult urination
  16. red or irritated eyes
  17. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  18. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  19. swollen or painful glands
  20. unpleasant breath odor
  21. unusual bleeding or bruising
  22. vomiting of blood
  23. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Confusion
  2. irregular heartbeat
  3. muscle cramps or pain
  4. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  5. seizures
  6. trembling
  7. weakness and heaviness of the legs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bitter, sour, or other unusual taste

Less common

  1. Burning, stinging, or discomfort when medicine is applied
  2. dry eyes
  3. feeling of something in the eye
  4. runny nose
  5. sneezing
  6. stuffy nose

Rare

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. body aches or pain
  4. congestion
  5. difficult or labored breathing
  6. dry mouth
  7. hair loss
  8. heartburn
  9. hives or welts
  10. indigestion
  11. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  12. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  13. thinning of the hair
  14. voice changes
