Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Chest tightness
  2. cough
  3. difficulty with swallowing
  4. dizziness
  5. fast heartbeat
  6. fever
  7. hives, itching, skin rash
  8. muscle cramps, pain, stiffness, swelling, or weakness
  9. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  10. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. chills
  3. dark-colored urine
  4. diarrhea
  5. joint pain
  6. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  7. red skin lesions, often with a purple center sore
  8. red, irritated eyes
  9. sore throat
  10. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Headache
  2. hoarseness
  3. lower back or side pain
  4. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  5. painful or difficult urination
  6. stuffy or runny nose

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. belching or excessive gas
  3. constipation
  4. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  5. heartburn, indigestion, or stomach discomfort
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. loss of appetite
  8. nausea
  9. shivering
  10. stomach pain
  11. sweating
  12. trouble sleeping
  13. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Appetite increased
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bloody nose
  4. bloody or cloudy urine
  5. blurred vision
  6. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  7. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  8. difficulty seeing at night
  9. excessive muscle tone or tension
  10. fruit-like breath odor
  11. groin or scrotum pain
  12. inability to have or keep an erection
  13. increased body movements
  14. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  15. increased sensitivity to touch or pain
  16. increased thirst
  17. increased urination
  18. loss of bladder control
  19. loss of sexual ability, drive, or desire
  20. menstrual bleeding occurring earlier or lasting longer than usual
  21. mental depression
  22. nervousness
  23. nightmares
  24. pale skin
  25. paranoia
  26. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  27. slurred speech
  28. swollen or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  29. unable to move or feel face
  30. unusual bleeding or bruising
  31. weight loss

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
