Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. vomiting

Less common

  1. Bleeding from the rectum
  2. bloody mucous or unexplained nosebleeds
  3. bloody or black, tarry stools
  4. confusion
  5. convulsions (seizures)
  6. difficulty with breathing
  7. difficulty with speaking
  8. double vision
  9. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  10. inability to speak
  11. memory loss
  12. pale skin
  13. purple or red spots on skin
  14. slow speech
  15. tightness in the chest
  16. troubled breathing (exertional)
  17. unusual bleeding or bruising
  18. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach fullness
  2. blood in the urine
  3. chills
  4. clay-colored stools
  5. collection of blood under the skin
  6. cough
  7. deep, dark purple bruise
  8. gaseous abdominal or stomach pain
  9. itching, pain, redness, or swelling of the eye or eyelid
  10. loss of appetite
  11. nausea
  12. noisy breathing
  13. recurrent fever
  14. skin rash or hives (severe)
  15. watering of the eyes
  16. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred vision
  2. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. fast or irregular heartbeat
  5. flushes
  6. hearing loss
  7. restlessness
  8. sweating
  9. unusual tiredness or weakness
  10. warm feeling

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. diarrhea
  4. difficulty with moving
  5. headache
  6. heartburn
  7. indigestion
  8. muscle pain or stiffness
  9. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  10. stomach discomfort or upset

Less common or rare

  1. Back pain
  2. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  3. loss of strength or energy
  4. rectal pain or swelling
  5. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  6. taste loss
  7. tenderness in the stomach area
