Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps or tenderness
  2. back, leg, or stomach pains
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  6. bloating
  7. blood in the urine
  8. bloody nose
  9. chest pain
  10. chills
  11. clay-colored stools
  12. cough
  13. dark urine
  14. diarrhea
  15. diarrhea, watery and severe, which may also be bloody
  16. difficulty with breathing
  17. difficulty with swallowing
  18. dizziness
  19. fast heartbeat
  20. feeling of discomfort
  21. fever
  22. general body swelling
  23. headache
  24. heavier menstrual periods
  25. hives or welts
  26. increased thirst
  27. inflammation of the joints
  28. itching
  29. joint or muscle pain
  30. loss of appetite
  31. muscle aches
  32. nausea or vomiting
  33. nosebleeds
  34. pain
  35. pain in the lower back
  36. pain or burning while urinating
  37. painful or difficult urination
  38. pale skin
  39. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  40. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  41. rash
  42. red, irritated eyes
  43. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  44. shortness of breath
  45. sore throat
  46. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  47. sores, welting, or blisters
  48. sudden decrease in the amount of urine
  49. swollen, lymph glands
  50. tenderness
  51. tightness in the chest
  52. unpleasant breath odor
  53. unusual bleeding or bruising
  54. unusual tiredness or weakness
  55. unusual weight loss
  56. vomiting of blood
  57. watery or bloody diarrhea
  58. wheezing
  59. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  2. change in taste

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. black, hairy tongue
  3. changes in behavior
  4. confusion
  5. convulsions
  6. discoloration of the tooth (brown, yellow, or gray staining)
  7. dizziness
  8. sleeplessness
  9. trouble with sleeping
  10. unable to sleep
  11. white patches in the mouth or throat or on the tongue
  12. white patches with diaper rash

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
