Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. blurred vision
  7. break in the skin, especially associated with blue-black discoloration, swelling, or drainage of fluid
  8. change in the ability to see colors, especially blue or yellow
  9. chest pain or discomfort
  10. chills
  11. confusion
  12. cough or hoarseness
  13. dark-colored urine
  14. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  15. difficult or labored breathing
  16. difficulty with moving
  17. difficulty with speaking
  18. difficulty with swallowing
  19. dizziness or lightheadedness
  20. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  21. double vision
  22. fainting
  23. fast heartbeat
  24. fever with or without chills
  25. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  26. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  27. headache
  28. hives
  29. inability to move arms, legs, or facial muscles inability to speak
  30. increased thirst
  31. itching of the skin
  32. joint pain
  33. loss of appetite
  34. lower back or side pain
  35. muscle aching or cramping
  36. muscle cramps or spasms
  37. muscle pain or stiffness
  38. muscular pain, tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  39. nausea and vomiting
  40. numbness and tingling of the face, fingers, or toes
  41. pain in the arms, legs, or lower back, especially pain in the calves or heels upon exertion
  42. painful or difficult urination
  43. pale, bluish-colored, or cold hands or feet
  44. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  45. problems with bleeding or clotting
  46. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  47. shortness of breath
  48. skin rash
  49. slow or irregular heartbeat
  50. slow speech
  51. sore throat
  52. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  53. sudden shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  54. sweating
  55. swelling
  56. swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs
  57. swollen glands
  58. swollen joints
  59. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over the affected area
  60. tightness in the chest
  61. troubled breathing
  62. unusual bleeding or bruising
  63. unusual tiredness or weakness
  64. vomiting
  65. weak or absent pulses in the legs
  66. weight gain
  67. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. confusion as to time, place, or person
  3. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  4. decreased vision
  5. diarrhea
  6. ejaculation without semen
  7. hearing loss
  8. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  9. mood or mental changes
  10. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  11. stuffy nose
  12. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  13. watery eyes
