Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. confusion
  5. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  6. dizziness or lightheadedness
  7. fainting
  8. falls
  9. frequent urge to urinate
  10. lower back or side pain
  11. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  12. swelling of the hands, feet, or lower legs

Less common

  1. Inability to move the eyes
  2. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  3. muscle spasm
  4. sticking out of the tongue
  5. trouble breathing, speaking, or swallowing
  6. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
  7. unusual facial expressions

Rare

  1. Chills
  2. decreased vision or any change in vision
  3. difficulty in coordination
  4. fever
  5. increased blood pressure
  6. increase in body movements
  7. irritation and swelling of the eye
  8. loss of memory
  9. mental depression
  10. seizures
  11. severe mood or mental changes
  12. skin rash
  13. slurred speech
  14. sore throat
  15. thoughts of suicide or attempts at suicide

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. difficulty concentrating
  4. dry mouth
  5. headache
  6. irritability
  7. loss of appetite
  8. nausea
  9. nervousness
  10. nightmares
  11. purplish red, net-like, or blotchy spots on the skin
  12. trouble with sleeping

Less common

  1. Blindness
  2. blurred vision
  3. constipation
  4. decrease in sexual desire
  5. decreased vision
  6. diarrhea
  7. drowsiness
  8. dry eyes
  9. dryness of the mouth, nose, and throat
  10. false sense of well-being
  11. joint swelling
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness
  13. vomiting

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
