Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Stomach pain

Less common

  1. Difficulty with swallowing
  2. heartburn
  3. irritation or pain of the esophagus
  4. muscle pain

Rare

  1. Skin rash

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. bone, joint, or muscle pain, severe and occasionally incapacitating
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. confusion
  7. convulsions
  8. cough
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficulty with breathing
  11. difficulty with moving
  12. heartburn
  13. heavy jaw feeling
  14. hives or welts
  15. irregular heartbeats
  16. itching
  17. joint pain
  18. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  19. loosening of a tooth
  20. muscle aching or cramping
  21. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  22. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  23. pain or burning in the throat
  24. pain, swelling, or numbness in the mouth or jaw
  25. rapid weight gain
  26. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  27. red, irritated eyes
  28. redness of the skin
  29. sore throat
  30. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or tongue or inside the mouth
  31. stomach cramps
  32. swollen joints
  33. tingling of the hands or feet
  34. tremor
  35. trouble breathing
  36. unusual tiredness or weakness
  37. unusual weight gain or loss
  38. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Constipation
  2. diarrhea
  3. full or bloated feeling
  4. gas
  5. headache
  6. nausea

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision or other change in vision
  2. dizziness or lightheadedness
  3. eye pain
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  6. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  7. sensation of spinning
  8. sensitivity of the eye to light
  9. tearing

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
