Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. bladder pain
  4. bloody or cloudy urine
  5. body aches or pain
  6. chest pain or tightness
  7. chills
  8. coma
  9. confusion
  10. cough
  11. cough producing mucus
  12. decreased urine output
  13. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  14. difficult or labored breathing
  15. dizziness
  16. ear congestion
  17. fever
  18. frequent urge to urinate
  19. headache
  20. hostility
  21. irritability
  22. lethargy
  23. loss of voice
  24. lower back or side pain
  25. muscle twitching
  26. nausea or vomiting
  27. noisy breathing
  28. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  29. rapid weight gain
  30. seizures
  31. sneezing
  32. sore throat
  33. stuffy or runny nose
  34. trouble breathing
  35. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. burning or stinging of the skin
  3. nervousness
  4. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
  5. pounding in the ears
  6. skin rash
  7. slow or fast heartbeat

Rare

  1. Difficulty with swallowing
  2. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  3. flushing
  4. hives or welts
  5. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  6. stomach pain or tenderness
  7. sweating
  8. swelling of the face, throat, or tongue

Incidence not known

  1. Redness, soreness, or itching of the skin
  2. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  3. sores, welts, blisters

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Belching
  2. bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  3. heartburn
  4. indigestion
  5. stomach discomfort or upset

Less common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. pain in the arms or legs
